| @Pemster: the problem with GDP per capita is that it is an average, not a median. So GDP per capita does not necessarily tell you how much an average person earns, because it is skewed high by even a tiny super-rich elite. In a small country like Swaziland, a single ultra-rich leader, along with his family and cronies, can make the GDP per capita look very high without the peoples' lives being too good at all. |
