| Three different groups of people settled the Pacific - the Melanesians, Polynesians, and Micronesians. Fiji's in Melanesia, as are Vanuatu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Micronesia, funnily enough, is in Micronesia, along with the Marshall Islands and Palau. Fiji's close to Polynesia, and there are lots of Polynesians living there now, but calling it part of Polynesia would be a bit like saying that Texas is in Latin America. |
