I already felt kind of bad about trying "bookology." But then I felt like I had been caught doing something bad when the bonus answer popped up. Well done. Plus, I was too embarrassed to try "futurology."

I wanted to type futurology and I didn't because it sounded too simple. Drat! On the other hand, I'm happy to see that scatology made it to a quiz. :)

You might include a bonus for S too. I'm not gonna pretend I didn't try it.

I knew "L" because I have that phobia. I was proud to get "H" and "X," but "V" was a total surprise to me.

Note that graphology is not considered a legitimate scientific field -- that term refers to the pseudoscientific practice of determining a person's character traits from their handwriting.

Searching for a more scientific word than sh*tfor the excrement clue, I tried Stoology. I think it has a nice ring to it (no pun intended).

So I'm guessing getting more correct from the right hand side of the most guessed answers than the left hand side of the most guessed answers is pretty classic Sporclitis. I suppose studying that would be Sporclology.

I tried "coprology" for the study of excrement. I'm pretty sure that's also correct. Could it be added? Also, for the umpteenth time on Sporcle, thank you Greek class!

I kept wanting to type forecasting but it doesn't end in ology. These were easier to think of than to spell. Leiped....leipid...lepid...

@ari18: coprology may be a nice alternate - if only it started with "s".

Just a suggestion - since the last five letters of each answer are given, could the rest of the word by itself be accepted as an answer? Requiring the "ology" to be typed every time is like making a quiz on famous people with the surname Smith and compelling quiz takers to type the surname of every answer.

The study of books, printing and publishing is actually known as bibliography. I know, that used to be what you attach to your research papers (now it's the "works consulted").
ari18
:

@dcgate: "Bibliography" is a record of books. It is Greek "biblion" (book)+ "graphia" (writing, record). "Bibliology," on the other hand, is "biblion" (book) + "logos" (words, logic), in other words, the study of books.
