Thanks for playing. If you have any other unexpected cities/states like these worth adding let me know!

Fun idea for a quiz! I would make a note for West Virginians on Hurricane--similar to the one you made for Onlaska, TX/WA. It's a well-known town within WV. For others: Cape Girardeau, Missouri stands out in my mind. I don't think of a cape with a French name as being in SE MO.

Thanks for the input, AmblingPoodle! Glad you liked it. I wish the ones who voted this quiz down would have said why - was it just too hard for them? You have to guess a lot on a quiz like this - so all you have to do is enter the two letter postal abbreviations. You can do it!

I used to live only a few miles from Hicksville. I would never have gotten it otherwise.

Bowie was the name of a very famous horse track in Maryland that closed down 25 years ago. I'd say something like Arab, Ala. or Versailles, Ky. are a little more misleading.

it wouldn't accept Maryland for Bowie. You might want to put a /between Maryland and the further comment or we would have to write the whole thing to get credit.

There is a Grand Island, New York, population 18,621 in 2000. Also, there are a lot of towns with these names that you don't accept simply because they don't meet your population cutoff of 10,000. For example, I know of Shenandoah, Iowa, which has a population of 5,546. I would suggest accepting these other states, even if the answer you show is only for the one with the highest population.

One of them I only knew because it's Taylor Swift's hometown, another I knew because I've been there, and another I knew because I've been fairly close to it. Tricky quiz!
