	Good quiz, but I disagree that William is commonly pronounced as a two-syllable name. It isn't pronounced 'Will-am', it's pronounced 'Will-y-am'. Or maybe it's diferent in the US?

	There's lots of room for individual & dialectal difference here and no one's going to agree 100%. I think chriskotx did a good job, all things considered. For myself, I say William with two syllables (Will-yum), and Samuel with three(Sam-yu-'l). However, Manuel is properly (in Spanish, and there are lots of Spanish-speakers where I live) only two syllables.

	@pillbug: I agree about William. If Manuel belongs on the list at all, it should be a bonus like Antonio and Nathaniel. It's usually pronounced man-well. I've always said and heard Nathaniel pronounced as 3 syllables, na-than-yul. I also pronounce Samuel as sam-yul but my dictionary does show it as 3 syllables.

	Actually I suppose it's more like Will-y-um. Still 3 syllables though. But as Pillbug says, no-one's going to agree 100% on a quiz like this! I agree about Manuel however. Not many Spanish-speakers where I live, but the character on Fawlty Towers always had his name pronounced 'Man-well'... ;)

	My East Texas relatives, who have it as a last name, pronounce it MAN-yoo-ul. If they lived 500 miles further north they'd probably pronounce it like manual (MAN-yul). Spanish speakers who say it more slowly and clearly will say man-oo-WEL - which is why our beloved Spurs star's nickname is 2 syllables: Manu. But you're right that they will typically say it short and fast and eat the "u" as man-WEL.
