| You both have good alternatives. Both of those were in mind and I would have made comment on them if there were room in the Game Note box. It could be said that they are simple choruses and nursery rhymes rather than songs in the complete sense..and if you take into account the millions world-wide (esp. Africa and India) who speak more than one language beside English, many of whom have one of their most significant use of the language in worship, it could well be said that Amazing Grace is, or was, the best known song in English. Wikipedia stops just short of that by saying that it is "one of the best known songs in English". |
