| @chriskotx Contrary to what Faux News says, Bush deserves no credit for the killing of bin Laden. Bin Laden was cornered at Tora Bora in 2001 and could have been captured or killed then. Instead orders from senior officals in the Bush Admin, against the advice of commanders on the ground, basically let bin Laden walk. In 2006 Bush disbanded the bin Laden task force that was in charge of finding him. It has also been said that waterboarding helped find bin Laden, this is also false. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave the nickname of bin Laden's courier during a normal interrogation process in a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe. When he was waterboarded months earlier he gave up no information. Waterboarding did not soften him up and did not yield any useful information. Obama banned waterboarding after he took office. Bush was even quoted once during a press conference saying he "didn't think about him that much". Obama said in 2008 during the campaign that getting bin Laden would be a top priorty...he delivered, Bush didn't. Funny how the GOP loves to place the blame of all the debt on Obama when the problems started during Bush's presidency, but they want to give Bush credit for an assassination that took place 2 1/2 years after he left office. I believe if their terms were reversed Obama would have followed through. Bush had no intentions of killing bin Laden, he wanted Saddam. |
