You left out the short lived "Shun Dynasty" of 1644. Otherwise a great quiz! Gets incredibly confusing trying to remember which were "northern", "southern", "eastern", and "western"!

Request that Chin/Ch'in be accepted for Qin, it's a transliteration and both are accepted spellings.

I could have got more answers if some dynasties were not divided into "northern/southern" and "western/eastern"

i regard it as very picky having northern/southern han dynasties as in reality they were never considered to be two seperate dynasties. same with song i believe. also, the so-called "eastern zhou" dysnasty would be better described as the "warring states period" (which of course is not really a dynasty, but neither was the three kingdoms which was a period/war rather than a dynasty).

"Dynastys"? Also, "Hsia" should be acceptable for Xia—that's the way it appears in New York Times crosswords (which is the only reason I knew it).

@REEEmonster: Eastern Zhou was indeed a dynasty that comprises the "warring states period" and the "spring and autumn period" that precedes it.

Technically, periods such as the three kingdoms etc. don't count as a dynasty, but are periods. If you insist on including them, then split up the separate dynasties to be accurate. It doesn't make sense to lump them together but still call this a quiz on "dynasties". Periods would be much more accurage.
