@chair: I spend a lot of time NOT reading books (things like typing and clicking seem to occupy a lot of my time at home, I wonder why). But I do a lot of driving. Over the past three years, I've had nothing BUT Jim Dale's readings of the entire Harry Potter series in my car's MP3 player; so I know the entire unabridged set by HEARING it, not reading it. And, as in awe of J.K. Rowling's writing that I am; I am constantly blown away by Jim Dale. And I constantly, constantly forget that HE is the voice of the characters, it is done seamlessly; and he absolutely consistently nails each character perfectly over and over again.
Therefore, thanks, chair, for making this game and paying tribute to someone who was able to bring the books to life for me, far beyond the scope of what the (still enjoyable) movies could do. If I were a sorting hat, you'd be in Gryffindor before you even put me on! Now, if only I could learn the correct spelling of all the characters' names.... |
