What about Uhr for hour??

Uhr doesn't mean hour, it means clock. Saying "5 Uhr" is akin to saying "5 o'clock" in English. The word for hour is "Stunde".

oh my. Spelled hundert in my family's dialect about 5 different times, wondering why it wouldn't take for century.

I thought uhr was hour too! You learn something new every day.

Ha...when I was learning time in German I also thought Uhr was Hour. So I asked my German friend if I could say "Was ist die Uhr?" And he groanded and told me that it was double wrong.

Why do you have to use JUST the german flag as a logo for this quiz? There are also several other german speaking countries like Austria or Switzerland who you hurt with using the german flag for this quiz!

@ohil, if you are hurt by that, I worry for you.

Clearly my spelling failed on this one. I could say most of them but was leaving some letters out apparantly. Bleurgh.

I'm reminded when I take these quizzes that I don't speak German. :)

"Decade" could also be translated as "Dekade". You should include that as an acceptable answer.

Ich liebe Deutsch. Ich liebe Sporcle. Und dass stimmt... Dekade ist auch ein Wort fuer Jahrzehnt.

@greebles: No, I think ohil was right. German speaking nations are much more sensitive about flags and national symbols, you never know who'd be offended by that.

Wie spät ist es? Es ist halb zwei. Danke! Es hat mir sehr gut gefallen.
