For that authentic Raptors experience, instead of watching the timer, have someone announce the remaining time every five seconds.

Typically horrible ESPN Quiz: lacks imagination, already been done to death, bland and vapid presentation. and adds no value.
  3. Cricket Fielding Positions
    20
On the list of quizzes I thought I'd never seen make the front page, I have to say cricket fielding positions would be pretty high up there. Nicely done, Sporcle!

I like how it accepts "cow corner". :-)

This yank got exactly one position right--bowler. And that was purely by accident.
  7. Every MLB player with 500 home runs?
    12
Yet another lame ESPN quiz that's been done many times before, with very little originality. And accepting "Schmid" and "Fox" just means I've got an extra letter to erase as I'm starting to type the next name, so that little special touch was bad.

Please accept Michigan St. Also, do not accept North Dakota for North Dakota St. North Dakota is an entirely different school, albeit in Division II. I would also suggest accepting ND St.

I would not say Roberto Clemente 'retired.'

@Mateo56: I actually pointed out to the admins a few weeks ago that no cricket quizzes had been published in the last 3 years, and that I would like to see some. I sent a list of several that I thought would be publishable, including instructions on how to update them. I didn't include any of my own quizzes on the list, so this is a nice surprise for me. Anyway, if you find any good user contributed cricket quizzes, they are always worth nominating. There is a chance they could reach the front page.

To those of you who aren't familiar with cricket, as @Jason_H has pointed out, there are several positions in this quiz that you wouldn't be likely to see in a professional cricket match. I just wanted the quiz to be comprehensive and include every possible variation. You will often hear these position descriptions used by radio commentators and text commentators to identify an exact area of the field in which a catch has been made, or a ball has been retrieved, rather than a fielder being stood permanently in those positions. The only permanent positions are the wicket keeper and the bowler. A captain is then free to move his other 9 fielders into whichever positions he likes, often with 2-3 fielders in the slips. Occasionally, teams have employed all 9 of their available fielders in the slips!
