	I think Athens should be here. It's city borders doesn't quite reach the mediterranean, but the metro area definitely does.

	Rome? The actual city limits may not reach the sea but it's so close, and the Province of Rome does. I would also include places like Venice and Istanbul. The Adriatic and Aegean seas are part of the larger Mediterranean and as such should certainly be included.

	Thanks for the feedback. I expected to get comments about Tunis and Athens. Neither of them are actually situated on the Mediterranean. Their ports - La Goulette and Piraeus respectively - are, however, part of the metropolitan area, so I can see the case for including them. I worded the instructions carefully to include only cities situated on the sea and thereby avoid judgment calls about what was "close enough" to include. I'd prefer to add Tunis and Athens as bonus answers, but I don't know how to do that yet.

	I'm looking into adding Rome to the list. I didn't even consider it intially, since the city center is about 15 miles inland and it is definitely not thought of as a coastal city. I'll keep researching and then make a call, and I'll appreciate any helpful advice. Venice is too small to be included based on the 500,000 threshold. Istanbul is not on the Aegean Sea, as the comment above seems to imply, but rather on the Sea of Marmara. The Dardanelles effectively make this a separate sea and not part of the Mediterranean.
