Any reason why New York is the only city in which you specify which state it's in? You should probably remove it on New York, or what is better, put what state each city is in for all the cities.

The first mention of Philadelphia (1810) did not pop up for me when the others did. Does that one maybe still require the state name as well?

There should be a mention in the headings that some cities no longer exist as cities on their own.

You should definitely remove the (last names acceptable) option from this. As it is, you can just type the last word of the state and get almost every answer right with no effort.
