Inspired by Flick's blitz series - he made his x quiz so that it only required an X to be present in the word. This one requires the answers to start with X, so there are some pretty obscure ones!
Musical artists must have had a US Top 100 hit. The word "The" has been omitted form some names.

The game was xtremely enjoyable, unlike my score. (A great addition to the blitz series)

Nice! I managed to get answers to three other categories by guessing the Chinese surname, before actually getting that one!

Very fun quiz. Kinda tough. On of my favorite bands is XTC yet I didn't get that question right! Doh!

Hate to be "that guy" but shouldn't X-Factor also count for the superhero group? (I doubt anyone would ever ever try that before X-men, but you know, someone will undoubtedly pretend like they did.) Great quiz. Actually did about as well as I do on Flick's other ones--i.e. not too terrific, but still having fun.

any quiz that includes xeno lovegood is a success in my book. :D

For the Roman numeral question, shouldn't XD and XM be accepted as well (490 and 990, respectively)? Other than that, excellent finish (if it is the last one, who knows?)

I went to school for 14 years and uni for 3 but until taking this quiz I thought it was chromosoNe. Thank you for doing something an education couldn't.

Embarrassed that I didn't think of X-ray (probably because I think of it as a diagnostic test, not a procedure), but can you make the word I tried an alternative - xiphoidectomy?
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 21:55 GMT
X-Ray Spex for new wave band. X-Force and X-Factor (and X-Statix)for superhero groups. Yes, I did try those first. No, I didn't have friends in school.
Oct 3rd, 2011 at 12:43 GMT
: Super hero groups added. I did have X-Ray Spex, but there was a spelling error in the name. Thanks.
Oct 3rd, 2011 at 17:32 GMT
I'd think that X would qualify for New Wave Band, if X-Ray Spex does.

Good quiz - by the way, the Fear clue should probably read "Fear of the unknown" which is the actual definition of the word.
Oct 4th, 2011 at 15:23 GMT
Fantastic! Glad somebody made this. Should accept Xymox for New Wave Band.
Oct 4th, 2011 at 15:59 GMT
: Added Xymox, as they did have a US Top 100 Hit. The Top 100 criteria eliminates the band X, though. Thank goodness. It would have been a freebie.

Oh...that saved my butt, then, as I hadn't bothered to read that criterion in the instructions. But I'm glad they did. I only knew about them because a friend of mine recently discovered them!

To be super technical, the X chromosome doesn't do any sex determining. You can have as many X's as you'd like, but you'll always be female. However 10 X's and a single Y will make you male; Y is the sex determiner.

I disagree with using xmas as a holiday. The real name of the holiday is Christmas.
