Good quiz. Could have added a few more moves; another Devils move, another Kings move, Chiefs, Hawks, Yankees, Warriors, Sixers, Spurs, etc...

I don't think the year listed is the year of the move. It's just an arbitrary year when the team was in its previous location.

: Yeah, I know there are a lot more. 1981 San Diego Clippers (LA), 1962 Cincinnati Royals (Houston - Oscar Robertson's team!), 1968 Cleveland Barons (Oakland), tons of real oldies - why don't you try making a sequel?

Great quiz. Love the way you did this. Wouldn't change a thing. Definitely recommending!

Loved it. Could do a partner/sequel focusing on nickname instead of city changes.

Cleveland & Baltimore aren't considered the same franchise. I'd suggest replacing that answer with something else.

scaryice is right. The Baltimore Ravens are considered to be a new franchise that was started in 1996, and the Browns are considered to be a franchise that ceased operations in 1996 and resumed play in 1999.

One of the best sports quizzes on here. There are a few cities that have had multiple teams bail out. I find it interesting that more people knew the Braves were in Boston than Milwaukee. Also that the Grizzlies moved only a few years ago, but they are 11th on the list.

@ Cocky, I thought so, too. They moved there "to get as far away from black people as possible"- Ice Cube ( had nothing to do with lost revenue from the NFL blacking out TV games for not selling out the 100K seat stadium in LA).

: Quebec (City) is a city, capital of the province of Quebec. Yes, Minnesota isn't a city, but "location name" is just awkward. The game accepts Minneapolis and Bloomington as well.

@ scaryice: didn't Art Modell move the Browns to Baltimore? Isn't that why Cleveland hates Modell along with Elway, Jordan, and now LeBron?

Baltimore is considered an expansion franchise, and thus technically the Ravens did not play anywhere in 1990 because they did not exist.

sabresfan and scaryice That's just lawyer talk - a team that ends up with the owner, coaches and all players is a relocated franchise no matter what they say to throw out the lawsuits.

I couldn't spell Winnipeg for the life of me or I would have gotten them all. BTW, The Cincinnati Royals did not become the Houston team. They became the Kansas City and then Sacramento Kings. Before that they were in Rochester. As you already have in the quiz, the team that became the Houston Rockets began in San Diego.

Baltimore is NOT an expansion team. The Browns are the expansion team that just took the name of their old team in the same city. When the Browns moved to Baltimore the stayed the same franchise just renamed themselves as the Ravens!

@RadiationPuppy, it was 1984, but the quiz does not specify that it's the year the team moved. FOr instance, the Jazz moved to Utah in 1979.

Officially, the Ravens are an expansion team. Old Browns records remain Browns records. Officially what happened is that Art Modell was given a new franchise, and took all the players and staff from his previous franchise to Baltimore with him. The Cleveland Browns then resumed operations a year or two later.

I knew the Devils moved to Jersey from Colorado. Never knew they were in KC before that.
johnlk is absolutely correct. Officially, the Baltimore Ravens franchise didn't exist in 1990. That one should be swapped out (perhaps New Jersey Devils in 1978 could replace it).
