I enjoy this series just like I did the one for the 1980's, @caramba, but my scores have plummeted. Where I was usually able to get 60%-80% of the 80's artists for each letter, I've barely cracked 50% yet in the 90s. The easiest explanation is that I'm relatively old by Sporcle standards, and the 90s are after my time, as it were. But here's what's funny: though my raw score has plummeted, my percentile scores have been pretty stable from the 80s quizzes.
One possible explanation is that lots of people who take these quizzes are as ancient as me. But another hypothesis is that...well...maybe 90s music simply wasn't as memorable overall. When the answers pop up, I'm stunned at how many artists and songs I simply have no recollection of. Not just brain cramps (like forgetting Concrete Blonde, Collective Soul and CMB on this quiz), but flat-out "Who the hell was that??"'s. Very strange; perhaps someone else has an explanation to offer? (Advancing senility on my part cannot be ruled out.) |
