Fun quiz! Go Rust Belt! Parma, OH had 100,216 in 1970; Davenport, IA had 103,264 in 1980; and Roanoke, VA had 100,220 in 1980.

Maybe clarify that you're excluding places like Brooklyn that are no longer cities.

A few of these cities (Davenport, Portsmouth) are now over 100,000.

@ferris...both populations for Davenport and Portsmouth had it under 100K...Davenport was at 98K or 99K and Portsmouth is about 95K

Awesome quiz. Would be interesting if former cities were included (at least as a bonus maybe). Though I just had an idea for a "all US cities ever over 100,000" (would most likely be around 270-280 or so, could work). hmm

Davenport had an unofficial population of 101,000 a couple of years ago, but the 2010 census put it at 99,000. It will probably get back up over 100,000 soon enough, though. The entire Quad City region has seen upward trends in population recently. I should know; I'm from Davenport.

@wasting2muchtime: Between the 273 in the 2010 Census and the 25 here, that's 298 existing cities.
