| I was a 9 year old in the audience in 1974 in Corvallis Ore. when the OSU Beavers took down Wooden's team by 7 points. I've never been to a sporting event that had that much emotional energy in a sports crowd. Beating a Wooden UCLA team was like a once in a lifetime achievement that most teams never managed to accomplish. In fact, UCLA had a bad weekend and lost to both Ore St. and Oregon, accounting for one-sixth of UCLA's losses in a nine year period, as UCLA went 259-12. I don't believe that another major sports dynasty like Wooden's will be seen for a long, long, long time. (Never is a big word) |
