I know, its a subjective list. Musicians that I almost put on here are bonus answers instead.

"Roundabout" is misspelled. Also, could you accept "ELP" for Emerson, Lake and Palmer?

Bon Jovi and Dire Straits need to be on this list (and I don't particularly like either band).

Inductees include Abba, Madonna, Run DMC and the Ramones. It's a far greater honor not to be inducted than to be grouped with such pieces of crap.

Poor Randy Bachman! He was a major force in the first band in each column, and he's still not in the HOF. (Note: 24 bonus answers!)

This quiz was fun. I really like most of these bands, but none of them deserve to be in the HOF except maybe Kiss (who I don't like) who were incredibly influential, and Diamond for his long history as a songwriter.

I'm also not too broken up about any of these people not being in. I'd say you might add the Smiths, Joy Division, Tom Waits, the Jam, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Nick Drake, Big Star, Kraftwerk, the Hollies.

@OnOnUofK - yeah, it's a much greater honor to be grouped with Foreigner and Journey than the Ramones.

the whole "hall of fame" is a disgrace. run by people who obviously have no idea of what rock n roll is.

the fact that Rush, KISS and Deep Purple aren't in should be considered sins. Rush is one of the most influential bands of all-time. (Seriously, I'm always amazed at the number of musicians who list Rush as an influence.) KISS is, well, KISS. How you can you deny the effect they had on rock'n'roll? And Deep Purple only made the Epiphany of Rock'N'Roll famous. That's all.

I agree with just about every artist you mentioned, especially Deep Purple,Rush. Any guitarist knows the riff from "Smoke on the Water". Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead should be in too. Metallica doesn't exist with out them. James Hetfield said so much last year when Metallica was inducted.

My five favorite bands of all time are on this list. Yes, Boston, Styx, ELO, and Rush. It's a travesty none of them are in but Pink Floyd is there? I don't even know if Pink Floyd can be recognized as music...

Pretty good choices but anyone who thinks Supertramp and The Cars need to be in any Hall of Fame should think again.

Um, Todd Rundgren? Emerson, Lake and Palmer? Not exactly the most influential bands. The rest are at least debatable (except for Neil Diamond... I don't know if you'd classify him as "rock and roll").

Deep Purple and Rush strike me as the two that prove beyond a doubt that the panel arbitrarily snubs bands and genres that they don't like. I mean, where would Heavy Metal, Prog Rock and Hard Rock in general be without those two bands? And on top of that both bands are tremendously talented and have maintained popularity over the course of decades. But nope, never even nominated.

One major band that I would put it right away is T. Rex. Chart power and influence isn't all that high in the US, but they influenced quite a bit of British rock, particularly the Britpop movement. I mean, Foreigner was quite popular but who was actually influenced by them?

With Genesis finally being inducted this year, there may be hope for some of the best prog-rock groups, such as Rush and Yes. I think the Cars have a chance, mostly because of their influence on modern groups like Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

A lot of crappy hair bands on this list. In my opinion they don't deserve to be in the hall of fame. There was no originality. They all looked and sounded exactly the same. In time most of these bands will wind up getting in as the pickings get slimmer.

The Chili Peppers are not even eligible to make the Rock Hall yet, they have to wait 25 years after the debut of their first album.

I love Chrissie Hynde, always have, always will, and even my wife knows that. That being said, the fact that The Pretenders were selected for induction into the Hall of Fame, (ON THEIR FIRST YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY, NO LESS!) while more worthy groups like Yes, Rush, ELP and Jethro Tull are not included is a crime.

I was with my family the other day and a Cars song came on the radio and it hit me then how great and underrated they were. They should be in as well. Its only too bad Ben Orr passed away.

@nvpacchi RHCP is not only eligible, they were among the nominees this year. I thought they'd be a lock this year, but as the eligibility pool is pretty weak until 2016 (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc) I think the HOF is setting itself up to clear up a lot of these backlogged omissions. No chance they don't get in in the next few years.
