There are a couple of countries which were very difficult to decide whether or not they should count - especially Iran (is it on the Indian Ocean partly as well as the Gulf of Aden?). Again, if you feel there's a change I should make, let me know.

How about France? The islands of Reunion and Mayotte also border the Indian Ocean. :)

I think France should maybe be a bonus answer (and consider adding UK as a bonus as well because of Diego Garcia). I would also include Iran because it seems to have a bit of coastline on the Arabian Sea (which seems to be the criteria that allowed Pakistan to be included).

I personally would include Iran (I think you meant to write Oman), although it is nowhere near the Gulf of Aden. However, there isn't a doubt that the UK should be included (BIOT). I would prefer to include France and UK as regular answers, not bonuses. They make the quiz more challenging and encourage you to think.

I did mean the Gulf of Oman yes, minor case of information overload there! You're right about Diego Garcia, I totally forgot about it - and I'll keep UK and France as regular answers for now because I do prefer them that way but if everyone disagrees I'll happily alter it.

As a bonus you could include the USA, as Diego Garcia is home to a US naval base. I'm not totally sure what level of sovereignty a military base has... hopefully someone who knows more on the subject can comment (I had a quick look and the sources I saw said it very much depends on the agreement in place for a specific base).

I am 99% sure that the UK owns DIego Garcia and the US just rents space for its base. That being the case, it is covered with the UK Outlying answer. Good thought though!

Ok so Bay of Bengal counts, but the Red sea and the Arabian Gulf don“t, I would just include all of them!

I've changed the definition now to hopefully make it a bit clearer - my point being that where the Arabian Gulf starts and finishes is fairly clear for instance, but the Bay of Bengal is a much more general term for a far wider area. Again though, I must admit that it's very open to interpretation! @joebobs: I don't think in this case the US can really be said to claim Diego Garcia, I'll leave it off for now.

If you're gonna include Bangladesh than Iran should be included as well.

Why Malaysia and not Iran or UAE? All 3 or none
