ESV, English Standard Version 2001, of Psalm 23. Some KJV words are accepted. Made this because I love viveleroi's "Genesis Lines 1-5".

Good quiz! Thank you for accepting the King James wording as well.

Nice job. You've got me wanting to make one of these now.

i go to church every week and i still only got the first 9 words right

Boo the the NIV! KJV all the way for stuff like this. Only people who actually belong to churches that use the NIV are likely to be familiar with its wording; the KJV is the heritage of all speakers of the English language.

Here there is language that is commonly used and understood; the published game holds to tradition.

I liked this quiz because it a popular and important chapter. I also really liked how it took from different translations.

My personal Bible is the KJV, but my church uses the NIV. It's a very good puzzle. Thanks for posting it! It took me awhile - I get the sections mixed up!

Great quiz. Thank you. Too much time though, IMHO. I had almost 5 minutes left and I made a LOT of mistakes.

@TheBluesMan: Thank you for sharing your opinion because I am sure there are others who agree with you. My games do not make racing the clock part of the challenge. I did it in less than two minutes, but want to give a liberal amount of time for those like aec who "get the sections mixed up".

It should take maketh for makes. That's how my translation reads (KJV).

This was a good test of my memory! I read the New Living Translation mostly now so I really had to think about the NIV wording! Good quiz!

For table; accept feast or banquet as well... I know that table is the more famous one, but my translation is different, and I've been using that one for years. Otherwise, 5 sporcles!

Nice job! I think you should make more.

@12bball: How about psalm 121? Not now, I am going away for more than a week. If I procrastinate until Thanksgiving time, maybe Psalm 100. Thank you for the encouragement.

maybe you could make it so it doesn't have to be in order?

@greatascender: My return from vacationing with a Friend at a Quaker retirement community in Maryland (east coast USA) was delayed by hurricane Irene. Back in time for your comment. There are two games for the first words of Genesis -- viveleroi's "Genesis Lines 1-5" has the words in order; the other does not. My preference for the version I prefer inspired this game. I recognize that dropping a word or two can make it difficult to get back on track, but I find jumping over words that are repeated jolting. I may consider your reasonable suggestion for future games. Thank you.

You will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. And don't call me Shirley.

Cute, never heard that one.

I have changed words of my word by word game from NIV 1989 to ESV, English Standard Version, today. Note that the URL sporcle-game-creator skuban chose for the link provided to play the phrase by phrase game is: My stalkers are Shirley goodness and mercy. Fun.
