My apologies, but there's some kind of glitch in my quiz. For some reason "Modern Family" and "Girls" are being omitted from the correct answers, so the answers for 2008-2012 are not correct. Will try to fix it.

So, according to the Golden Globes voters, Desperate Housewives was the best comedy of the year as many times as Seinfeld and Cheers combined? And more times than The Office (US) which never was?

It would so appear. No accounting for taste.

The Golden Girls over The Cosby Show? Gee, I wonder why.

Jesus. How Seinfeld only won once is a mystery to me.

I was very surprised not to see Friends. It's one of my favourite shows of all time!

I think one reason for some of the surprising picks is that the Golden Globes are voted on by an international group of journalists, whose tastes and opinions don't always completely mesh with American ones. BTW, do you know what won the award in 1969? A comedy called "The Governor and J.J." Anyone remember that one? Didn't think so - that's why I didn't bother to put it on the quiz.

The reason the Cosby Show only one once is the same reason why Roseanne and Wonder Years only won once; awards shows don't gravitate towards 'nuclear family' programs. They might be popular for ratings but when your show is half aimed at people under the age of twelve it's kind of hard to be the best television out there.
