	Meh...I don't care for any list that puts French above German but yeah, I guess if one is rather liberal with the definition of "second language speaker" I can see how a list might say that. But then again, even if I disagree with your source, you did include a source, so no complaints here.

	@Austerlitz: expect for germany, only some of the surrounding countries of germany have large german speaking populations. meanwhile, most of west africa speaks french.

	who are you, the sporcle police ? it doesn't mention it's as a mother tongue so as aaaandrew says, africa has a large amount of people who speak french. saying that i was surprised that swahili is not in this list

	English - 1.8 Billion Speakers. I'm sorry no. I read the Wikipedia article. It included India in the 1.8 billion. Yes, it is ONE official language of India, amongst dozens of official languages. But less than 10% can speak it. If that's the case then Arabic has 1.5+ billion speakers, because it is the official language of Islam and all Muslims the world over know at least 2 phrases in Arabic. Its nonsensical.

	@Adam12 - that's still 100 million Indians! With a loose definition of what makes someone a "speaker," these figures are, for the most part, believable.

	Knowing two phrases does not mean you know how to speak that language.. these figures are believable. Im without a doubt they dont count these numbers as people who know two phrases in the language.. probably people who know as much as like, lets say a 6-8 year old as a native English speaker. Your numbers on Arabic probably include people as low as being able to say hello. If that were true English would still be on the top, with probably a little less then the entire population of Earth.

	It is a good quiz. I agree you should accept Farsi, as it is the accepted name of the language. I think that's the only reason it is your least guessed language.

	Hmm...the English numbers do seem a bit high. You'd have to be fairly generous with the percentage of Indians who speak English to get to 1.8 billion, I think.
