	Do you have a source for this? I think it's too early for Mauer (though he will be among the greatest if he stays at catcher and stays healthy). Also, Bill Dickey, in a comparable number of games, has more hits, runs, RBI and triples and a higher batting average, with slightly higher OBP and Slugging, than Jorge Posada. Dickey was an All-Star 11 times and was on 7 World Series winners compared to 5 and 4 for Jorge. Dickey is a Hall of Famer. Jorge probably won't be. I would make that switch.

	Jorge is a switch-hitting, power-hitting catcher in an era when the pitching is better. either way, neither should be on the list because Josh Gibson should be number one, thus bumping everyone down.

	You quiz is entitled best catchers in MLB history, so Josh Gibson doesn't belong anywhere on this list as he never played Major League Baseball. If you want to include Negro Leagues players that's fine by me, but you need to re-name your list. As for the list as it currently stands...

	How is the pitching better now (or more specifically 1997-2007 when Jorge was in his prime) than it was from the late 20's into the early 40's (when Dickey played). If you're going to make a statement like that you should at least back it up with something. There are only 13 catchers in the Hall of Fame. Three of them don't deserve to be there (Rick Ferrell, Roger Bresnahan and Ray Schalk). A fourth, Buck Ewing, played all his games prior to 1900, so it's hard to compare him to the others. That leaves just nine. Bill Dickey is definitely ahead of all of them statistically with the exceptions of Carter, Fisk, Bench and Berra (who are all ahead of him in power numbers but each is at least 28 points behind him in batting average. So Dickey is currently at worst the 5th best catcher in the Hall of Fame, but is really only probably behind Bench and Berra. Add in the All-Star appearances and WS Titles (only Berra has a greater combined number) and he has to be on this list.

	I'd put Thurman Munson on this list before Posada. He had a very nearly Hall of Fame career already and would almost certainly have earned enshrinement if he hadn't died in that plane crash. He had more All-Star appearances than Posada and won 3 Gold Gloves. Never heard Jorge accused of being a great (or even good) defensive catcher. Unless you hit like Piazza, defense counts at this position.

	Jeffthepardoner...the pitching is certainly better in the 21st century than it was in the 1930's, also, you're telling me that Dickey is statistically below Carter, Fisk, Bench, and Berra...what about Ivan Rodriguez? Roy Campanella? and Mauer thus far for his career? I'm saying the best catchers ever, not necessarily the best career numbers, although that has a lot to do with it...Mauer LED THE MAJOR LEAGUES IN BATTING AVG THREE TIMES...not catcher has ever done that, I would rather have Mauer than Dickey, sorry...I can acknowledge that Dicky could replace Posada or Carter, but I think they played in a tougher league

	Everyone needs to get off Dickey's dick and realize that at best he would be eight on this list. Cochrane was better, so was Berra and Campanella...sorry

	I know I sound like a bitter Met fan but Piazza has more seasons, games, PA, AB, runs, hits and homers as a Met than a Dodger. He will almost certainly wear a Mets cap in Cooperstown and should be listed as a Met for his primary team. As for the Posada debate I would go with Dickey over him.
