| Good quiz, bad list (not necessarily the Top 10, but the list as a whole-Tricia Tanaka is Dead was 2nd worst, when that was one of the funnest episodes of the series).
I think Ab Aeterno is overrated in general. It was well made, but it didn't really add anything to the story. I normally am not at all obsessed with answers over characters, but I want episodes centered on minor characters like Richard to be more explanatory. My main complaint with the episode is that it did nothing to show why Jacob's death meant anything to Richard. Their relationship was not depicted as close, and Richard did not seem to earnestly believe in Jacob's work; he only was shown getting beaten up and then asking for eternal life. And when, in an earlier episode, Richard wants to commit suicide out of despair from Jacob's death, I think that a more emotional connection should have been portrayed between those two, rather than him and his one-episode wife, Isabella.
I liked "The End", but I can't agree with its placement in the Top 10. The way it ended how it began was awesome, and it was emotionally satisfying (although a lot of it could honestly be characterized as emotional pornography), but the on-Island plot was dumb. And, when the show ends by showing all the characters going into heaven, the entire plot of the show and the spirituality of the Island seem to be pointless. And Michael should have been in the Church!
I'd still put it in the Top 20 or 30, though.
And I agree with Kevin and dmalato2 in that there were too many Season 5 episodes there, especially since they didn't choose the better Season 5 episodes.
Off the top of my head, my list would be:
1. Through the Looking Glass
2. The Constant
3. Pilot (Part 1, or both if you count them together)
4. Walkabout
5. The Candidate (I loved that episode and almost want to put it 4th).
6. The Shape of Things to Come
and then I'm not sure |
