	^really, a guy who has played his entire career injured and you are surprise he didn't take them...if he ever did he would have passed bonds by now, or better yet, broken the record before bonds.

	Griffey never bulked up, and he was always hurt. I don't think he did. However...played with Fullmer, Buhner, Bell, and that 1st baseman who I always forget...couldn't hit for power.

	Well, those can't exactly be answers because they aren't members of the 500 home run club, correct? Also, Griffey was never "jacked". Bonds and McGwire went from rails to jacked. Griffey wasn't even close. And his injuries were not the types of injuries you normally see in steroid users. Griffey is perhaps the only player of the era that I am sure did not use.

	brewcrew - Actually, Aaron did cheat. So did Mays. Both admitted to using greenies (amphetamines), which were always banned by the rules. As for Ruth, look up "Babe Ruth corked bats" sometime and tell me how 'clean' he was. The Babe, like many hypercompetitive athletes, was willing to do anything for an edge. As for Griffey, he suddenly becomes a saint because of poor conditioning? He was famously never a hard worker, coasted on pure talent and got injured a lot because he rarely trained his body. Also, malonetd has the right idea. Check out the Mitchell Report: Most guys who go 'roids aren't "jacked."

	Also, why does Thomas get a pass because he was big on drug testing? Maybe he just knew he could cheat the test. Thome has 'never been linked,' but if you use the same 'he used to be a beanpole and now he's jacked up' rationale, then Thome fits. Seriously, look at Thome in 1993 and then Thome now. Look, we'll never know everyone who used and didn't use, and no one is 100% in the clear, not even beloved players like Ripken, Jeter and Griffey. Remember how beloved McGwire and Sosa used to be? Being universally respected isn't a shield from doing bad things. See: Puckett, Kirby and his domestic violence issues, even though he was loved by 99.9% of fans, players and writers.

	I may be mistaken, but greenies haven't always been banned, have they? Plus, I don't think greenies come even close to having the same effect as what the guys on this list took.

	Answering my own question, Aaron talked about greenies in his autobiography, as discussed here http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3171167 Still looking for Mays' admission, though his implication in the 80's drug trials is probably linkage by the standards of this quiz

	There were other ways to cheat besides steroids, before the steroid era. Cheating has always been a part of baseball. There has NEVER been a level playing field. This is ridiculous.

	aaron and mays need to be on this...greenies/amps were illegal at the time, banned when they were discovered to be in wide use...same as steroids (mac did them before they were banned by baseball)

	I just don't equate energy pills with steroids for some reason. Yes, questionable things have always been done. But nothing is on the same level as steroids in my book.

	Give Griffey a break. The number of injuries he had doesn't prove he used PEDs. In fact, the duration of his injuries and the length of his recovery help prove that he didn't use.

	You see, I've never even hear A-Rod being described as jacked until his name got connected to juice. Before that he was always being described as Griffey-like. You know, "There's no way he's juicing. Look how scrawny he is." Once it come out about his use, suddenly people started commenting on supposedly how "big" he has gotten. I would love to see a picture of a "jacked" A-Rod. I'm being completely serious. Come someone help me out here. To me he's always just come off as skinny and lean -- basically small. I'll admit, it's possible my vision is biased through the people I know in real life.
