no Randy Johnson? Todd Helton? and Halladay is no lock, better pitchers are still not in (Blylevin). Terrible quiz

I don't think that you should require the answers to be made in order, as order is really irrelevant for this quiz. Ivan Rodriguez also played for Houston in 2009. I'm not sure that I agree that Johan Santana is a Hall of Fame lock just yet; I think that he might be pretty close, but to me, he needs another really good season or two. Are you trying to use all players that are considered HOF locks? If so, you forgot Randy Johnson.

@giantsfreak830, I'm not sure that Todd Helton is a lock either. @everyone, I think that it is really hard to quantify a Hall of Fame "lock", because we really don't know how the voters think. So many times players are called future Hall of Famers, and either never make it (that's not even counting those whose careers just flame out too early) or make it after waiting a long time.

Why do they have to be selected in order? If you're doing that, you should at least include a position because otherwise there's no way to tell apart the 3 Yankees and 2 Mariners

I think the McGwire vote totals can give a pretty good indication on how steroids affect voting for the HOF.

Why do people keep making these completely subjective quizzes? You might as well just create a "Things I Think Are Pretty" game.

Johan Santana is not a lock yet. And this is coming from a Mets fan. Also, if Vlad is a 'lock' right now, why isn't Gary Sheffield? And also, they shouldn't have to be answered in order.

Regardless of what you say, bostnboy3, this is a subjective list. While I think most people would agree with you on most of the players you used, just the fact some of the players are up for debate makes this a very subjective list/topic. A Hall of Famer by your criteria isn't always going to be a Hall of Famer by another's criteria, and who's to say which set of criteria is correct?

@Theosaurus: Todd Helton may not be a lock, but he's easily more considerable than Roy Halladay at this point, which is the point I think giantsfreak830 was trying to make

I think the only way to make this game playable is to put some actual numbers behind it, such as using Bill James' HOF Monitor Score. Which gives me an idea for a quiz...

How is Thome a lock? And how come no one has brought that up?

Maybe you should use Baseball-Reference. They have a HOF Monitor that quantitatively measures HOF credentials. A lock should be a player thats waay above avg HOF. Derek Jeter: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jeterde01.shtml (LOCK) Jim Thome: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/thomeji01.shtml (NOT AS BIG A LOCK)

You need some sort of statistical bench mark, like hits or hr's, career wins. Something comparable to HOF'ers. Also, anyone named in drug tests (Arod, Manny) aren't getting in, at least in their lifetimes.
