Interesting topic! However, you're missing Finian's Rainbow (revivals in 1955, 1960, and 2009).

I saw the most recent revival of Finian's Rainbow last month. I can't believe it closed so quickly. It was such a fun show! And this is a fun quiz :-)

Don't forget Company (1970, 1993, 1995, 2006), Sweeney Todd (1979, 1989, 2005) and Grease (1972, 1994, 2007). La Cage Aux Folles will be having its third Broadway run starting in April of this year (1983, 2004, 2010). Gypsy has actually had 5 runs (1959, 1974, 1989, 2003, 2008), as has West Side Story (1957, 1960, 1964, 1980, 2009).

Flowery -- Company, Sweeney, Grease, and La Cage have only been revived twice. You're counting the original runs as revivals. The 1993 Company revival was actually a two-night benefit concert, so technically Company has only been revived twice. The 1964 West Side Story was presented by City Center -- technically not a Broadway house.

Somehow, when I get the least guessed answer, it makes me feel really smart even if it's the only one I got.

Surprised at some of the ones not on here - but I guess they didn't need to be revived? I just named the most famous musicals I could think of and it didn't pay off too well :P

@kypzethdurron: Some musicals are famous because they ran forever, in which case they wouldn't be revived because they were still running. Some musicals are famous because of the iconic stars, in which case they wouldn't be revived because no one wants to see anyone else in the lead role. Not sure if any of the famous musicals you were thinking of fit either category, but those are some possible reasons why they weren't on this list.

Porgy and Bess is not a musical. It is an opera. No other operas are included in this list.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum has 3 versions. Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, and Nathan Lane all won Tony's for their performances 1963, 1972, 1996.

There has only been 2 revivals of Anything Goes (1987, 2011), 2 revivals of A Funny Thing...Forum (1972, 1996), 2 revivals of How to Succeed (1995, 2011), 2 revivals of Cabaret (1987, 1998). Porgy and Bess needs to be updated to 7 productions with the production that opened in 2012 and Jesus Christ Superstar will have 3 revivals once the current revival opens in March.
