Do you really think there will be an independent Palestinian state by August?

Agree that it seems a bit too soon. Palestine have, however, announced that they are going to make an official bid to the UN of either UN membership or full recognition of sovereignty. The USA have the power to veto the latter though, so it's unlikely to pass.

other counrties could veto too, the usa veto carries no greater significance than the french or russian votes for example

I felt Palestine needs representation since Israel is treating them as a conquered nation. Perhaps USA has a special relationship with Israel, but more than 6 billion people around the world recognize the state... who cares if they can't trade with anyone? I might have included other disputed regions, but many would be unfamiliar.

@lpw88 I'm well aware of that, but I assumed that the USA were much more likely to use it in the Palestine issue. China and Russia recognized Palestine in 1988, while France and the UK may very well abstain. The latter two use their veto much more sparingly and mainly when direct interests are threatened.

Palestine should not be on the list until it is truly recognized. Other than that this was a good game.
