| Florida State, Georgia, and Texas have about 14 rivals that any given fan would choose a different one. FSU has only played Miami every year for about a decade and as an outsider I would consider Florida to be their biggest rival. Georgia's rival is Georgia Tech: it doesn't matter if they aren't in the same conference or not... they hate each other. And Georgia's next biggest, and oldest rival is Auburn. Texas's rival is A&M, even though A&M doesn't have the prestige of OU. but just as love is love, hate is hate. And I don't care what anyone else says, Alabama-Auburn is the greatest rivalry. The iron bowl is not about the two best teams going against each other (that's UT for Bama). Bama doesn't want Auburn undefeated going into the game, and vice versa. We want Auburn to lose every game, and Auburn wants Bama to lose every game. Bama fired a coach because he didn't beat Auburn (even after going 26-10 over three years) and Auburn fired their longtime coach after losing 36-0 to Alabama (and he had beaten Alabama six straight times). |
