This is a good idea for a quiz. However, the Phillies aren't animals; it's a shortened version of "Philadelphias".

Dallas Mavericks should be included. The Phillies are not named after the horse (that's a filly.) And I know the Bills use a bison (aka buffalo) on their helmets but I would not consider a Bill to be any sort of animal.

I agree. Nix Bills and Phillies, add Mavericks.

I replaced Phillies with Mavericks. Kept the Bills in since the city name applies and it is definitely referenced as their symbol. Thanks for the feedback.

Still debating whether to keep Mavericks in though. Although free-ranging cattle is one of many definitions, it isn't referred to in that way by the team at all. Anyone from Dallas care to weigh in?

Free-ranging cattle? Ah makes sense given they seem to get herded every year come playoff time. Nice quiz.

The current listing is really good, I'm glad you cut Mavericks. That's even more tenuous than Bills. If I were you, though, I'd change "mammal-related" to "explicitly mammal" and cut the Bills. I think it's better to have someone type "Bills" and not get it than to have them find out at the end that technically a non-mammal was on there.

The "Sporcle way" suggests that grey areas should be acknowledged as bonuses. Maverick could refer to a mammal, but since that is not referenced by the team, it shouldn't be on the list. The Bills do reference the city name, which is a mammal, but the team's nickname is not a non-human mammal, so it should only be a bonus as well.

Also, if the Mavericks are being considered (as a bonus or otherwise), the Chargers should be as well. Their name also can refer to a horse, which they have featured on logos in the past.

A sabre is a type of sword. A raptor was a reptile.
