Why is Taiwan a bonus answer?

What about The Vatican? On Sporcle, that's generally accepted as the name of the country.

Taiwan shouldn't be a bonus answer; it should be part of the quiz.

Good quiz. Agree about Taiwan though. Vatican debatable.

Just realised your source is the UN. In which case, it might be a good idea to change your title to mention "UN member states". Then there's a legitimate reason for leaving Taiwan out, if that's the way you want to do it.

The reason I left 'The Vatican' out is that it's correct name is Vatican City and the official name for Taiwan is Republic of China, but as it is generally accepted to be Taiwan I added it as a bonus.

I agree that the correct name is Vatican City, but you should add it as a bonus. That way people won't think you forgot it. Taiwan should be a proper answer, since it's "Taiwan" in standard Sporclese.

If you keep "Taiwan" as a bonus, perhaps display it as "Taiwan (officially Rep. of China)" or something, to explain why it's not a proper answer?

Taiwan is not proper to America because we don't officially recognize it. But the rest of the world does.

I think you'll find most, if not all, countries don't 'officially' recognise Taiwan (ROC) because they don't want to annoy China (PRC).

I thought Taiwan was the name of the Island, not the country.

I suggest grouping the answers, depending on whether they start or end in 'an'. That of course, is entirely subjective.

Agreed that Taiwan should be a full answer, as Sporcle recognizes it as such generally. Only missed Bhutan and Jordan, guess I wasn't up on my Asian non-stans!
