Games listed are the first appearance of the spell in the series. I've tried to use and list all the variations of the spell names as well.

Man, there's so many useless spells in FF.

I think 84 is pretty good considering I've only played two of these games :P

Doomsday? Panacea? I'd look it over, but otherwise very thorough quiz.
Nov 10th, 2009 at 05:53 GMT
Panacea is on the list, it's an alternate name for esuna/antidote. I don't recall Doomsday, nor did I see it on the FF wiki; just Doom.

I'd look at your source again for what systems these games were released on. I have them all and when looking at them I thought my memory was wrong. But alas, you did not list them correctly. Just look at your source and fix it. (FFIII Japan was released on the NES April 27, 1990, FFII originally came out for the Wonderswan Color, FFV on the SNES December 6, 1992) also, you've forgotten FFXIII, Agito XIII, X-2, Tactics, Tactics Advance, Crises Core, Before Crises, Red Wings, Dissidia...blah blah blah. Your title says excluding FFXI, so where are the others? Oh, FFXIV is coming out this year, and it's stuff has been announced as well.

Doomsday, Vivi's ultimate black magic Even if it's not on a list some douchebag fan made, you should know that.

What about Demi3 from FF7, and Finale from X-2?

Need to accept Thunder for Bolt/Lit

Fun quiz, my only negative comment is that it's really unclear to me how you decided which spells are "similar enough" to be considered alternate versions of an earlier spell, rather than a separate entry in the quiz.

Also chiming in on Doomsday. It's Vivi's last spell, gained from the Mace of Zeus found in Memoria. It does high Dark damage to everyone on the field, including the player's side. You also skipped Aerora, the 2nd form of Aero (you included Aeroga but not Aerora). And Panacea actually IS different from Antidote and Esuna; it cures Venom, a status effect stronger than poison only in 9. Also, I got a bit hung up on all the different revival spells; saw Life and Life 2, but not Reraise (which is different from Full Life or Arise) and there's also Revive that you put, which I dont see being different than Life. Otherwise, really fun quiz.

Immobilize is misspelled.

Imp is a summon. And Bubble, Faith and Bravery were not in the original FF4, only in the DS remake, I believe they were in FF12 first. Also Flood was first in FF4, as one of Edge's spells. and yes, I also tried Doomsday, and it wasn't there.

Imp is a summon in FF4, but it's a regular spell in FF6. I guess it depends on how pedantic you want to be about "first appearance", even though it didn't do even remotely the same thing in either.
Dec 4th, 2011 at 22:35 GMT
Why was this a subcategory curator pick? The quiz has a bunch of obvious errors.
Dec 6th, 2011 at 18:45 GMT
You spelt immobilize wrong. Its not immobilze. Other than that, great quiz.
Dec 13th, 2011 at 19:26 GMT
Wish you would include FFXI!
Jul 28th, 2012 at 07:54 GMT
Immobilize is spelled incorrectly, and several spells are missing. Among the ones already listed above in comments, if you're going to include the other GBA FF6 spells, you need to include Valor as well, because it is unique - affecting only the party's next attack. It needs some cleaning up, but it's a really promising quiz. :)
