| bhal - There's no perfect list. There's plenty with WAR, HoF monitor, or the rankings of one sportswriter or publication, so it's good to get some variety, and I think the EloRater was a fine idea. It's just that there are a few ridiculous ratings that you can't take seriously - like the idea that there are 62 players better than Barry Bonds, or even that Willie Mays isn't a top 6 all time player (Stan Musial was a nice guy and an overlooked great, but better than Mays?) In general, it worked fine for the quiz, but the quiz made me click on the EloRater and reminded me of the problems I have with it (Schmidt behind Mathews and Brett? Joe Morgan stuck at #44, Gaylord Perry at #20? Jackie Robinson behind Biggio and Sandberg?) |
