57 million Germans in US? Don't think so. Americans may have a pretty loose way of defining ethnicity (i.e. my great grandparents were born in Germany - therefore I am German).

I've been living as a Slovak-American for 32 years. There's no way there are more of us than Greeks, Chinese, Indians, etc. There should be more Czechs and Hungarians too. NE Ohio, Western PA, that's about it.

honkytonkman: For various reasons, many Rusyns, Ruthenians, Lemkos, etc. who immigrated to the U.S. identified themselves as Slovak, as did their descendants. I think the number is accurate for those who claim "Slovakian" ancestry. I've run into large numbers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and California, to name some places.
