I think on this one you'll need to annotate that wrap-arounds count. Otherwise, no consecutive letters change from FAWN to BAWL.

Good catch, that was just a mistake - for some reason I had gone to the same word from FAWN in both directions and changed it at the last minute and for some reason forgot the rules. I have changed BAWL completely. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to say, but I hadn't finished the puzzle yet when I commented. Alas, there are other instances of the same flaw: COIL to VOID, HOAX to SOAK, TIME to LIMB. That said, I still love the laddyrinth!

UGGHH...yeah, it looks like I completely changed the rules halfway through making this for some reason, and that won't be an easy fix. For now I have added to the note, I'll likely take it offline for a little while and make changes after I get some sleep. Thanks again.

When I typed in one answer, COIL, no new clue appeared. That should be fixed, otherwise it's impossible to finish.

I suffered from the same problem, no clue shows up after you type in COIL

Like others said, no clue after COIL, but I still like these. Good luck with your fixes, and keep making these.

My apologies everyone - I think everything is working now, please let me know if you find any other errors.

Perhaps a different clue besides 'yank' should be used for JERK. Since the adjacent word is JUNK, the clue yank would actually be a viable answer

@Tom007: That was actually why I used yank as a clue but to avoid confusion I just changed the word entirely.

@donnieT: Not at all. I write them and I still have trouble with them sometimes - they definitely aren't easy.

If you read the comments before playing, everything's fixed now. @betraisefold--I could do these all day long.

This one was definitely harder than most of the others. Keep up the amazing work!

@schanbacher I just flat-out gave up and started typing four-letter words. I got lucky and hit one!

Is the quiz freezing up for anyone in the middle? It's not my Internet that's frozen, just the quiz (12:43 AM Central Time)

I tried again (10 minutes later) and it seems to be working now. Must have been a glitch or something. Tough quiz, but fun! I had to look up more than a few of these answers...

If I am looking at this right, completing the quiz completely depends on getting duct as all the other columns are simultaneously dead ends. All I could think of was pipe until about 20 seconds left. Lots of really dead ends.

I too got stuck at duct. I wanted to use dike. I also had to resort to guessing random 4 letter words until I struck "gold", literally.

I got stuck on the 'word' squalorous. I tried looking it up in two online dictionaries and found out it isn't a word. Nice.

^It appears you're right. The right adjective would be squalid. The fourth result of a Google search of squalorous is one of betraisefold's previous laddyrinth quizzes. So perhaps this is all part of a plan to add a new word to the English language...

I agree with Driver54 - the adjective which goes with the noun 'squalour' is 'squalid'. I enjoyed this one, though, as it is not possible to just try all of the possible changes of letters (of which I have occasionally been guilty in the past!). Good on you for making an honest quizzer of me :)

Also got stuck forever on DUCT, until I tried LIFT in case I was missing something in the clue. Jackpot. Sounds like as many of us sneak around DUCT as figure it out.

DUCT and JUDO would have ended my quiz if I hadn't accidentally found the answer before last....so when I got stuck I just typed in the last answer and finished the quiz. :P

This was cool! For me, there were a couple points at which I needed to start typing some random four letter words (some of which were in anger, I admit) to get round a road block.
