| If you go by structures you would have to include all the radio masts that have passed the height of the Empire State Building since 1954. In fact, until the Burj Khalifa, all the tallest structures in the world have been radio masts since then. If you go by tallest free-standing structures, then you would put the Ostankino Tower in Moscow passing the Empire State building in 1967 and then the CN Tower up until the Burj Khalifa. The Eiffel Tower and Washington Monument should only be on the list if you are counting structures. For buildings, Cologne Cathedral should be followed by Ulm Minster, the Philadelphia City Hall, Singer Building, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower, Woolworth Building, and 40 Wall Street up until the Chrysler Building. Also, St. Mary's Church should be after St. Olaf's. |
