This is an experimental response to sproutcm's phenomenal Laddyrinth Adventure game. The goal is simply to escape from the maze by solving the clues along the way as follows:
• It is split into 4 floors, the 1st floor consists of 3 letter words, the 2nd floor is 4 letter words and the 3rd floor is 5 letter words*. The fourth level will remain a mystery for now.
• While staying on the same floor, the next word will be formed by changing one letter from the previous word as in a normal word ladder.
• Moving up a floor requires adding a letter to the word - moving down requires you to remove a letter.
• Moving up occurs at staircases marked ▲ and downward stairs are indicated by ▼ - they will be marked on the next floor by ▽ and △
• Spaces saying 'combine and unscramble' require you to find the word for each side of the space and combine the letters of the two words and find the anagram to form a new word.
• There are hidden locations and clues along the way - keep a lookout for messages appearing below each floor.
• *Unless otherwise indicated.
Good Luck, please let me know what you think.

My suggestion is that in the two cases where two clues must be anagrammed to get to a different level, you highlight the specific words in some manner. Perhaps with left & right arrows: ► WORD ◄
Also, more time please!!!!
May 1st, 2011 at 04:54 GMT
I have added 4 minutes and surrounded the words with ► ◄ - Thanks for the help.
I wonder how long it will be until someone figures out why the floor is slippery.

@betraisefold: The combine/unscramble words aren't coming up when you type them in--it might be because you added the arrows. Unless they aren't supposed to come up and I missed something?
But this is an awesomely epic and inventive word laddyrinth/building. (I thought there might be a jacuzzi on the roof or something)
May 1st, 2011 at 05:28 GMT
I just saw rockgolf's comment and added them - thanks for the help. Hmm, jacuzzi sounds like a good idea, I should add a pool and a tennis court too (and maybe fix up the basement a little).
May 1st, 2011 at 05:32 GMT
no, (s)he's saying that because you added the triangles, the words don't show up when typed. they just appear at the very end once you type the final word.
May 1st, 2011 at 05:47 GMT
@gracie: I know, I fixed that - rockgolf had pointed that out in a comment that he must have deleted. I was just jokingly thinking of nice things to go with the Jacuzzi. Thanks though.

The Combine and Unscramble totally killed me. Apparently I'm not good at 8 letter anagrams. I checked an anagram solver to find out what the answer was once I'd finished - it gave two possible solutions. I can see why you accepted the answer you did as it fits the theme but you might want to have a look yourself and accept the other in case someone thinks of it first. I was also furiously typing in dram as the unit of mass but that is just a severe case of Sporclitis.

Wow, this is a phenomonal and well-thought out quiz. It should get published.
May 1st, 2011 at 14:11 GMT
Great quiz. I need to do more of the daily mixed words though - I'm a little rusty at anagrams.
May 1st, 2011 at 14:45 GMT
Amazing! Keep 'em coming! I love how you always find some sort of twist to this already-fantastic quiz concept
May 1st, 2011 at 15:15 GMT
I completed it, but I never got to the bottom-right corner of the 1st floor, and entering the first anagram didn't uncover the answer to the left of it. Loved it though
May 1st, 2011 at 15:42 GMT
@bazmerelda: I actually checked interenet anagram server before I released it and it came up with nothing, but I found the one that (I assume) you are talking about and added a message for it. Also, dram is technically weight not mass - I am out of data lines though, I may shuffle things around to add a message for that one.
@arpw: I'm guessing very few people make it down to that section - I'll tell you that it has to do with the slippery floor (I'm actually looking for a better way to clue it) - and the first anagram actually isn't supposed to unlock that space - although I can see why you would assume it would.

Fun quiz! How in the world do you come up with this kind of stuff?
May 1st, 2011 at 15:53 GMT
Really fun quiz! I admit that I had to use an anagram solver though... ;-)
May 1st, 2011 at 16:26 GMT
Wow. Every time I think I'm in ultimate awe, you surpass yourself. This one took several tries, and I still haven't figured out the slippery floor or top right corner. It just isn't clear to me what the floor clue asks me to do. But that's a minor qualm in a superb puzzle.

What was the unscrambled word from "vote" and "real"?
May 1st, 2011 at 18:36 GMT
Well executed! I was particularly impressed with how the "special area" on the first floor helped out with the anagram.

Loved it. @sluh138 Elevator.
May 1st, 2011 at 19:29 GMT
i cheated but i loved it
May 1st, 2011 at 19:57 GMT
That's brilliant! I haven't worked out how to get to the special area on the first floor, though.
May 1st, 2011 at 20:05 GMT
All I have to say is...wow. Awesome.
May 1st, 2011 at 20:11 GMT
Instead of giving spoilers in the comments, anyone who really wants to know anything (why the floor is slippery for example) can email me at betraisefoldSporcle@hotmail.com and I'll help you out.

Once again, a great idea, please keep it up, your games are very fun.
May 2nd, 2011 at 00:40 GMT
this was great. I completed it, but I didn't get any clues for the two rooms on the right, 1st floor. That all auto-filled when I answered the last clue to escape. What did I miss?
May 2nd, 2011 at 02:45 GMT
@sadash; The clue for the single space in the top right corner appears when you answer the corresponding clue on the second floor in the same way as all the other stairs. The larger area on the first floor is what very few are finding - it has to do with the slippery floor clue that appears when you answer 'to cut'.
May 2nd, 2011 at 03:54 GMT
Spectacular. 6 orbs!
May 2nd, 2011 at 04:04 GMT
Finally got the slippery floor. The key is knowing when the clue showed up or yuou could just answer the question.
May 2nd, 2011 at 10:40 GMT
I seemed to spend about 6 minutes solving the ladders and 7 solving the final anagram (but didn't cheat). I should have remembered where I was...
May 2nd, 2011 at 16:06 GMT
wow, wow, wow. phenomenal!

Great quiz. A worthy response. I may have to try my hand at something crazy like this.
May 5th, 2011 at 14:54 GMT
I'd give you six orbs if I could. And thank goodness, as suggested by others, for online anagram solvers. This was an amazing quiz.

May 5th, 2011 at 21:51 GMT
great idea... good quiz... the "WHEEEEEE" didn't show up when i typed in "elevator", and neither did the rest of the first floor
May 7th, 2011 at 05:50 GMT
Wow. This is really, really good. Needs publishing. Even better than I expected. Almost as surprising is that, when I needed to get the ten-letter word, I got it from getting one of the two five-letter words and then thinking up ten-letter words including those five letters. Not sure how I did that...
May 7th, 2011 at 16:35 GMT
FYI, solving seven plus three with '10' completes the answer, but fails to produce the "bronze ingredient" clue. Makes the quiz kinda dumb if you can only get one side of the first combination
May 7th, 2011 at 20:03 GMT
Thank you everyone.
@brodeur: It's not supposed to, that area is triggered by something else.
@sprinkles: Thanks, I have fixed that, funny that it took over 4000 plays for someone to point that out.
May 8th, 2011 at 12:35 GMT
Finally got secret first floor area. And now that I know it, I feel like an idiot for not getting it at first.
