Absolutely stellar. There aren't enough Sporcle globes in the world for me to give this a proper rating.

Seriously. This is the kind of quiz that separates hacks like myself from the real quizmakers.

You fail this bad at basic setup and still use a sock puppet to say how awesome it is?

Original, thought provoking, and fun to play. Nevertheless, a few of the clues are a bit too cryptic and require too much time for a 5 minute quiz. Other than that one qualm, well done.

Trust me, I'm not betraisefold's sock puppet. A cursory examination of our user pages will quickly reveal that.

Very fun and clever quiz. A few more minutes would have been helpful though.

Thanks everyone, glad most of you seem to be enjoying it - but has anyone found the bonuses yet? @alphadog, beckala63: I have added a minute.

When the history of Sporcle is finally written, this quiz will be seen as one of the milestones.

Cool quiz - I didn't read the instructions carefully, though, so I just kept trying random four-letter words, wondering how I was supposed to figure it out. Luckily, though, the first one I tried that worked was the next to last word :) Now I want to go back and try to do it the right way!

This is awesome. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but i actually missed a few answers, then found another thread to pick up by accident, and got to the end. When i typed the last answer, i got credit for the couple of answers I had missed.

Thank you all @Returnofthelank: It was intentional for the last answer to trigger everything so that the game ends, however it is tough to avoid having people trigger later answers. In part III i have set it up so you at least wont know which way to go when this happens as it will trigger all adjacent questions, but I havent had time to add this to the first two parts yet.

For those who are having problems I have now added an option to type HELP to display the first few answers to get going. I have also altered it so that if you happen to guess a word that appears later in the maze that clue will always trigger every adjacent question. Thanks for the feedback and please let me know about any further glitches.

This quiz would have been awesome... if I hadn't managed to skip ahead a few answers which then revealed all of them. I was hoping I'd be able to go back and play the rest of it. You shouldn't have the last one reveal everything.

@Betraisefold: Great idea, but...
You definitely need a starting point in each quiz. There are literally 1000's of four-letter words and to expect us to hit one of them just by chance is exceedingly optimisitic.
There's a couple of "bottlenecks" with particularly obstinate clues. "Tie/BIND" is definitely one of those. Can I suggest "Predicament" or "Tough spot" as an alternate clue?
The other is "remove by force/OUST". It's not particularly accurate. Was force used to remove Nixon or Carter from power? How about "dethrone" or "depose" or even "remove from office" instead?

once I finally figured out what was going on...this was amazing. it may be helpful to put more explicit directions as the first comment to help those of us who are a little slower on the uptake figure it out before we only have 2 minutes left. Unbelievably brilliant new concept on the word train game, though!

@rockgolf: There is a starting point in each of them, I'm assuming you missed the type GO to begin instruction which gives you a starting point. There is also an option to type HELP to begin to give you the first few as examples. You do make good points about the bottlenecks though (even if the logic behind your oust innacuracy claim is somewhat flawed) - I'll see what I can do about that. @remskray: Unfortunately I can't fit much more into the notes: in the future I will try to remember to leave more detailed instructions in a first comment.

Yikes! Misreading the instructions proved extremely helpful. I thought it was a guessing game and never typed GO, ended up going from MAKE to MAZE and getting all the answers.

Great twist on the ladder concept, and very well executed. Some cryptic clues left me panicking timewise but I love that you pick another thread and run with it. 5 globes!

Guessing maze should not give the entire map. I also think that there should be either more clues that allow you to go in two directions or a couple hints down the road. (I know you are supposed to work your way through the maze) It gets really annoying when you can guess most of them, and then get stuck on one word.

I had a similar problem - I guessed words randomly, and "make" got me toward the end of the puzzle, so I only had to enter 4 words to "solve" the whole puzzle. One solution to this problem might be to give us the starter word. And why to so many lines just contain x's? I wasn't sure about your format.

Any chance of modifying the clue "break"? It appears below BEST and both REST (take a break) and BEAT (defeat) are valid answers for the clue even given the word ladder scenario. How about "Flop" or "Bosom"?

If "head statue" fits that would be my pick for a clue for BUST. Also typing in "maze" and revealing the whole thing really shouldn't happen.

Why all the xs? Please explain. Apart from that, pretty good. Runt, though, is more specifically the smallest of a litter, not the last. (Though this might often be the case)
