	I would say 'District of Colombia' is part of the name, therefore ends in BIA. But thanks for pointing out my Ljubljana typo.

	'Washington, District of Colombia' ends in 'BIA' to me. If anyone wants to tell me why we shouldn't evaluate the American capital this way, please say so.

	By that same logic, the capital of Mexico is Ciudad de Mexico, Distrito Federal and would end in 'RAL'. Canberra falls under the same category, but I can't remember the actual name of the federal district.

	There has always been this argument on Sporcle - what exists in reality, and what exists for the purposes of these quizzes. In the other quizzes that involve world capitals, already published Sporcle quizzes do not accept 'Washington', because it requires the 'D.C.' in 'Washington D.C.'. I am following the example of around ten other quizzes.

	Got it - Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). In fact Wikipedia has a good list of these at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_districts_and_territories

	We also use the DC in the US to differentiate the city of Washington from the State of Washington, so it's more common to hear Washington DC in an attempt to avoid the next question - DC or State?

	I understand what you're saying. But as you can see, I used Sporcle as my source, and not Wikipedia or any other site. I'm basing this on what Sporcle accepts and declines, to make my quiz consistent with the others. Maybe one day soon, the Sporcle executives will define all these things once and for all, stating what is proper and what is improper. But it is my quiz in the end, and I would like to think I'm not outrageously wrong. It's not like you are losing an answer by my exclusion of Washington, but know that I appreciate your comments nonetheless and I've acknowledged them.

	I've said all I have wanted to say on the matter of Washington. It's my source, my quiz, and ultimately, my decision - knowing full and well my own assumptions and reasoning. Washington D.C. is the required answer elsewhere on Sporcle, tell the eleven other quiz makers to accept 'Washington', and maybe I will begin considering. Fix. Your attitude. We're just trying to have fun.

	Thank you for your 'nod' to my earlier quiz, beforever. I wish I could say I did better on yours (8/17). :-( I agree with you that the Washington issue is moot, since TON makes the list anyway. I also agree that it's your quiz, and you get to make the decisions on judgment calls. An even more moot (mooter?) issue is whether following "Sporcle standards" means that the capital city of the U.S. ends in NDC or (as you favor) BIA. Really it doesn't matter, as neither gets duplicated elsewhere. That all said, I must admit it always bothers me that Sporcle capital city quizzes require the DC in Washington DC. I think of the DC part as functioning like a state name, and we never insist on, say, Chicago IL or Atlanta GA. Anyway, it's not a criticism of your quiz, but of Sporcle standards on this issue. Good quiz. And thanks again ... Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

	I know, right?... Personally, I would not accept Kosovo, the Vatican or Taiwan as countries. But these things are debatable, and everyone thinks differently, so... I was just trying to follow what the 'Sporcle standards' are.

	If you want to follow Sporcle standards, I think you should move Tirana to the -ANA section as this is the common English spelling. It wouldn't really make much of a difference, though, as there are still enough -ANE's to maintain its place in this quiz.

	I know this is a dead horse beaten, but I'll try to explain Washington in my own words: The "D.C." is something we Americans use to differentiate between that and the state "Washington". The fact that it's specified on Sporcle WORLD capital quizzes is downright silly, and it really shouldn't. Ever notice how it has a comma in the name, which is something NO other world capital (in Sporcle terms) does? It's just the rest of the address, the city/state/district that it's in. It's like saying that the name of the city "Boston" is actually "Boston, MA" Many other countries are divided into states/provinces/counties/district, some in which the capital stands special alone, some which not, but it's not a regular thing to specify where the capital is located when saying it's name. Neither should it be such for Washington. The city is called "Washington". D.C. is the "state" it's in, hence the comma (which we don't see in any other world capital) and should NOT be taken into account when we're taking quizzes that involve the spelling/letter structure of world capitals.

	It's been three years since I made this quiz, and I am really sorry to anyone who commented and may still be around to see this again some day. Basically, I now recognize what I was doing back then - and with the perspective and the longer experience now playing on Sporcle, I have changed my opinion and added Washington to be valid for TON. Many apologies, for what it's worth.
