Fun fact: According to the BBC's poll of the 100 best British sitcoms, there are 65 British sitcoms better than Spaced. OK, I'll give them Blackadder and maybe one or two others, but Birds of a Feather (38th)? Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps (60th)? Really!?
Anyway, I've kind of rushed this out because I'm going away for a week. I've probably made some mistakes as I was doing a lot of it late last night. Let me know if you find any errors in the comments and I'll get them sorted as soon as I'm able to. Enjoy.

This quiz had so much potential but you've managed to pick some of the crappiest British sitcoms ever made. The Mighty Boosh? Awful. Green Wing? Awful. Spaced? Awful. No Only Fools and Horses, Porridge, the Good Life, Men Behaving Badly, Absolutely Fabulous, The Royle Family or The Office which are all better than any of the above.

@m0ckers: Well, the quiz isn't actually intended to be a countdown list of the best British sitcoms. It is supposed to give a reasonably broad range (as much as it is possible to do so with 8 shows) of styles and eras. Doing it this way makes the quiz more of a challenge but also holds some high profile titles back if the quiz becomes popular and I decide to make a sequel.
With regards to the matters of taste, I suspect most people would probably tend to disagree with you. Dad's Army is the lowest rated of these 8 on IMDB with an 8.2. The rest are 8.5+ - compare with 7.9 for Men Behaving Badly, 8.1 for The Good Life, 8.2 Royle Family, 8.3 Absolutely Fabulous etc. I would have included the Good Life but only 5 characters ever appeared in more than 2 episodes as far as I can see (I don't mind including an occasional bit part character but 3 seems excessive). I also completed a page for the Office before noticing it had a couple of unavoidable name clashes with major characters in other series so swapped it out for the Mighty Boosh at the last minute. Like I say, it's still there for a potential sequel - but any sequel I make will contain a variety of styles too. It seems pointless to try to only cater for people with a particular taste.

Good quiz, although I'd suggest accepting just "Major" for the Fawlty Towers character; I don't remember him ever being referred to by anything else in the show. Also, if we're suggesting sitcoms to include, I recommend Peep Show, but I have no idea which to take out.

Maybe accept Bernard as an alternate answer for the fifth Blackadder character? (It is her real name, after all.)

@Cerdog & @BJack: Done and done. Thanks. Keep them coming - I was bound to forget a few. It's a long long time since I've seen a few of these shows.

Great quiz! You would have to be brain dead to think Spaced is awful.

I won't comment on shows you have included, just on one you have missed- The Young Ones! For Blackadder, Queenie should be included given that Nursie is (or Queen Elizabeth I, or whatever you want to call her).

I believe that one day in the future, cultural historians will pinpoint "Green Wing" as the very moment that British comedy died.

One or two of these could be better accepting a few different variations - e.g. I tried Colonel von Strohm and got nowhere. I too will refrain from commenting on the choice of a few of the sitcoms - all personal choice I guess!
