@m0ckers: Well, the quiz isn't actually intended to be a countdown list of the best British sitcoms. It is supposed to give a reasonably broad range (as much as it is possible to do so with 8 shows) of styles and eras. Doing it this way makes the quiz more of a challenge but also holds some high profile titles back if the quiz becomes popular and I decide to make a sequel.
With regards to the matters of taste, I suspect most people would probably tend to disagree with you. Dad's Army is the lowest rated of these 8 on IMDB with an 8.2. The rest are 8.5+ - compare with 7.9 for Men Behaving Badly, 8.1 for The Good Life, 8.2 Royle Family, 8.3 Absolutely Fabulous etc. I would have included the Good Life but only 5 characters ever appeared in more than 2 episodes as far as I can see (I don't mind including an occasional bit part character but 3 seems excessive). I also completed a page for the Office before noticing it had a couple of unavoidable name clashes with major characters in other series so swapped it out for the Mighty Boosh at the last minute. Like I say, it's still there for a potential sequel - but any sequel I make will contain a variety of styles too. It seems pointless to try to only cater for people with a particular taste. |
