	Yeah, I drove past it yesterday. It's why I decided to make this quiz. According to Wikipedia there are actually three New Yorks in England. One in Lincolnshire, one in North Yorkshire (near original York) and the one I went past in North Tyneside.

	I think the title needs to be the other way round as the UK cities towns viallges preceded the US settlement.

	@rje_dobbin: I take it you're referring to the Isle of Portland in Dorset? Do any of the actual towns or villages on the peninsula have the name Portland? I can only see Southwell, Easton, Fortuneswell, Weston, Castletown, Chiswell, Wakeham and The Grove. I may swap it out anyway to prevent any confusion. @kaulbach: I did it this way round as I was using well known American cities which are also found in the UK, rather than well known English cities which are also found in the USA - ie, all 30 cities exist in America, the question is which of the cities are also towns, villages and cities in the UK? Also, not all the English names preceded their American counterparts. Off the top of my head I know that Philadelphia in England was certainly named after Philadelphia, USA.

	I once knew someone who lived in New York and went to college in Boston (the two in Lincolnshire are only a few miles apart). Didn't realise we had a Houston and Dallas in the UK though.

	Houston is in Renfrewshire, near Paisley. Dallas is in Morayshire, near Elgin.
