This quiz has both some questionable inclusions--such as Turkey and Yemen--and glaring omissions (Sudan? Democratic Republic of the Congo? Uganda? Israel/Palestine?). It's a great quiz, though.

cheers, i realised i hadnt completed it but havnt had chance to adapt it until now. the turkey-kurdistan workers party conflict is currently taking place in south eastern anatolia in turkey, and an uprising in the Sa'dah region in northen Yemen is still underway, so technically these two count. also ive included dem rep of congo in the chad civil war, as although there seems to be constant fighting in the congo, this seems to be the current war they are involved in.

Wasn't Rwanda involved in teh DROC's war? I mean it concerns spillover from the 94' genocide in part.

Israel became a nation in 1948, so that could probably serve as the commencement date.

I second the inclusion of the Koreas. At least as a bonus.

Did you add "within their own borders" on purpose, so that the US wouldn't be an answer???

Thailand has insurgents in the South (broadly Muslim area annexed in around 1910) and border conflicts with Cambodia and Burma. Indonesia has Aceh seperatists.

If you accept Afghanistan for "War on Terror", you should probably accept all nations that are combating terrorism, as witnessed by the attempted Christmas day bombing, the Fort Hood incident, 9/11, the London bus bombings, the ETA attacks on the Madrid rail system...it's a long list.

You should include North/South Korea. Both nations claim the entire peninsula as their territory with the DMZ serving as a truce line not really an official border. The two nations are still at war and occasionally small periods of violence arise. And like the others have said, the Israel-Palestine conflict started in 1948. Even though Jewish-Muslim-Christian conflict in the area is much older, there was no Israel to be at war before 1948.

ok this one is going to have many inevitable flame wars about who is who and what is what. Also what is the author's defination of "war". There is no standard defination in international relations for "war". For instance, insurgency and states of emergency do not count as wars in my book.
