	Interstates are ranked by: miles in length (1 pt each mile), states occupied (200 pts), int'l borders touched (100 pts), major 2-digit interstates generated(200 pts), minor 2-digit interstates generated (100 pts), major 2-digit interstates intersected (100 pts), minor 2-digit interstates intersected (50 pts), each 3-digit interstate its a parent of (150 pts), and each 1 million population metro area it serves (100 pts).

	Why are some Interstates split into East and West, while others are not? They aren't separate highways, just different directions of the same road.

	Acutally I think they are. It has never made any sense to me for example there is 35W in minnesota

	The letters (for 35W and 35E) indicates that Highway 35 splits up into two different highways for a short time (both while going through the Twin Cities in Minnesota and the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas.) For example, in Minnesota, 35W goes through Minneapolis while 35E goes through St. Paul, and they meet up both north and south of the Twin Cities to form/re-form Highway 35. Since the two routes have roughly equal importance, they are given the letters E and W instead of making one a three-digit interstate.

	Actually, after finishing this quiz, I realized that the "east" and "west" in this case is given where a given highway number is used twice- for instance, one highway with that number is in the eastern US while the other is in the western US- and the highways never come near each other.
