| In all fairness to the US it was a major leader in drafting the document, but domestic politics have prevented it from being ratified because many politicians and groups take issue with some of the contents, which they feel infringe on the United States constitution and the US's sovereignty. Many of the countries which have ratified the convention are not exactly known for their outstanding human rights records, and many freely violate it. Like most of the UN's work in the field of human rights it's mostly all talk and no action. |
