Wonderful quiz. This may be the only place you see mixed in for equal effect the all-time great power hitters with the Johnnie LeMaster-esque career #8 National League hitters. Great quiz.

Bill Russell lead the league in 1974! Really! Who was hitting behind him?

Small Correction- Robin Ventura played for Chicago in 98, the Mets in 99

I was surprised Rickey wasn't on here since he's second on the career walks list. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised considering that he played for almost a quarter century...

BigKuntry - never made much sense to intentionally walk the all-time leader in steals. Plus, he hit leadoff on mostly good teams, so there was usually a good hitter behind him.

@MatttD: Ah, I didn't see intentional in the title. I thought it was just top 5 in walks. That's what was confusing me about the quiz. I knew that he wasn't intentionally walked many times in his career.

In a similar vein to Rickey, why would you give Lou Brock a free pass?

Why would you walk Ichiro? 80% of his career hits are singles, so it's basically, 'Should I let Ichiro get to first by walking him? Or should I let Ichiro get to first by pitching to him, which at least gives me a good statistical chance of getting an out?'
