| The Bills are named after Buffalo Bill Cody--he's dead...The Browns are named after Paul Brown--he's also dead, but Browns are accepted on this quiz. ??? Sabres are named after a sword, not a living animal. Maple Leafs is an iffy one, because, they could still be living on a tree. Predators use a sabretooth cat as their mascot, which was once living but is now dead, but you allow Raptors. ??? Roman Senators are all long since gone, but you accept Blue Jackets (Civil War soldiers). ??? The same could be said about the 49ers (1849 Gold Rush), the 76ers and the Vikings. Is a dodger a person who dodges things? A Charger is a war horse, and they once used a horse to represent their team in their early years. Angels, Titans and Devils are iffy as well. Flyers is another tough one, as they clearly show a wing on their symbol, which would indicate a living bird of some sort. Wild depicts an animal as part of their symbol, and wild symbolizes life (even trees are living things). Giants could be the mythological creatures, but they would go hand-in-hand with the Titans. Twins = Twin Cities--cities aren't living things. Also, I think the Mets are named after a metropolitan area or the actual Met, neither of which are living. I don't think the Pacers are named after a pace car, but if they are, there's another one. Are the Knicks named after knickerbockers? Clippers are clipper ships, if I'm not mistaken--also not on this quiz. Great idea for a quiz, just too many close calls, and this quiz has too much inconsistency. |
