	this quiz doesn't make sense. It's not consistent choose one thing. Good try though African refers to a continent Hispanic refers to a race Puerto Rican refers to a Latin (Hispanic) continent and the rest refers to countries

	Also, I understand that it's technically "Native American" but this is one of those cases where you ought to also take "American Indian". Additionally, you could accept "England" or "Italy" instead of just "English" or "Italian"

	Well, they didn't say "country", though they should have. In my mind, French is neither a 'race' nor an 'ethnicity.' The correct version of this--country of origin--has been done.

	French is a distinct ancestry. When I say French I mean people of white French ancestry. Nonwhite people who lived and France and then moved to the United States are not French but are of the the nation from which their ancestors immigrated to the United States.

	If a white South African immigrated to the US, would he be counted as "African"? What about an Egyptian or an Algerian?

	This is based on self-identification. Everyone is counted by what they tell the census-taker.

	"African American" is a distinct culture and ethnicity - Egyptian Americans or Nigerian Americans would be categorized separately, as would other African diaspora communities like Haitian Americans. Most African Americans cannot trace their heritage back to a particular ethnic group in Africa due to a lack of records and due to many generations of intermarriage - An African American might have several different West and Central African ethnic groups in their heritage in addition to a few European and Native American ancestors. The general term "African" is used to reflect these realities.

	Also, "Native American" probably should be removed as an ethnicity here, since the term encompasses a large number of ethnic groups that are as different from one another as any of the European groups listed here are.
