My point to @Jam1 was that the metropolitan areas in the UK are much smaller & tend to be made up of a number of discrete administrative districts. But there are as many metro areas in the UK with populations of over 1 million - Greater London, West Midlands, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire & Greater Glasgow. In addition, there are a futher five with populations between 500,000 & 1 million. These metro areas are comparable to Australian cities because of the size of the administrative boundaries in Australia. |
