one thing...nobody refers to the SoCal Pac10 schools as Southern California and California-Los Angeles...they are USC and UCLA.

Good quiz. Managed to get through it almost in order, but three of the smaller schools just never occurred to me. Guess they have generous donors.

One small error that won't affect most of us because you accept "LSU," but I noticed that "Louisiana" was misspelled in the answer that appeared.

Fun and informative quiz. Some suggestions: No one refers to Penn State as Pennsylvania State. I also agree that UCLA should be used. USC is generally used to refer to Southern Cal, not South Carolina. I would not accept USC for South Carolina. I'd also accept FSU for Florida State.

I think accepting USC for South Carolina is fine, as that is what people called South Carolina when I was in the Southeast. Although obviously nationally it means Southern California.

Where is UConn? The men's basketball team makes over $12 million dollars for the university alone... GET SOME FACTS, THEM COME BACK AND SEE ME!

Doesn't Nike pay Oregon like $200M just to wear those crazy uniforms?

UConn isn't on the list because THEY DON'T RANK IN THE TOP 30 COLLEGES IN REVENUE! They had 2008 revenue of about $55M. Of course, if you think that's bigger than the $66.1M that UCLA has in 30th place, then I see your gripe. Thanks for playing ;)

12 million is relatively nothing for athletic programs, half the teams on the list got all their money from one sport alone (ie. Alabama, Penn State, Nebraska)

I gotta wonder where Illinois is getting its paper unless it is from that Big 10 network .... they are taking seats out of the stadium because they couldn't sell that monument out. Great quiz.

Wowww, people can't take a joke huh? I guess only UConn fans remember Calhoun's famous rant when a reporter questioned his salary. Obviously UConn isn't in the top 30, relax people.

Yeah, I was just about to post defending bmo1616 since his post was a joke that apparently flew straight over most people's heads. Either way, I don't really see why he got negative-thumb raped so hard.

It would be interesting to see what the highest mid-majors are, seeing as all these schools come from power conference.

Being ranked 16th, you'd think Iowa would get better prospects. :/

Gotta go with Booger on the names, but I don't have a problem with using the official University names. I wouldn't accept USC for South Carolina, just because some people might get South Carolina without trying to.

what I've noticed, being an Alabama fan, is that no one except South Carolina fans call South Carolina "USC". haha... sorry about my UCONN comments. sarcasm doesn't go over well online

thanks for the input...I was trying to keep the names a little more formal b/c it seems like a lot of the NCAA quizzes on Sporcle are pretty subjective with what they accept and what they show on the quiz. i know UCLA and LSU might be a little bit of a stretch

bmo's UConn joke was hilarious once I got it. Flew over my head the first time. To answer another question, Illinois, like Iowa and Minn, makes the list in large part due to the Big Ten's TV contract. The Big Ten schools that didn't make it have almost zero following; see Northwestern and Indiana.

Nice quiz, but I would have to say that you need to make it so that USC doesn't give you both Southern California and South Carolina.

It's nice to see the Big Ten doing well at something. I got everything except Duke on the quiz. Duke... How?
